I am embarrassed to admit that I now have affectionate feelings for a household cleaning appliance, let alone a VACUUM of all things, but I am so ? with this thing.First of all I’ll be honest…never even HEARD of Yeedi. Stumbled across it after going on another marathon research/review quest to locate the best value in a robot vac to provide back up cleaning support for a mom with two messy teenage boys, two big HAIRY dogs… oh, and a cat. I have owned two Roombas, both quite expensive and disappointing as far as the amount of “help” I think they offer me in the constant battle of “clean” around my house. I have 3 Dysons AND a central vac, all of which are terrific BUT require major commitment on my part to be effective. I just don’t have it in me to commit part of my life EVERYDAY to hauling out, using, cleaning out, then putting away those ball and chains.I purchased this one night on impulse (probably too much wine at the end of the day). Predictably, the next day I was all…? ”what was I thinking!” ??♀️ TBH, I thought it sounded WAY too good to be true (this kind of machine for a lot less than I paid for my Roombas). At least I DID have the sense to buy it from AMAZON (who thankfully takes the ‘risk’ out of some expensive risky purchases). Ok, yes… my oldest dog DOES fear it like thunderstorms, but she runs from the cat’s wind up mouse too. ??♀️It was incredibly easy to set up; the remote is very responsive. YES - it uses a REMOTE; I don’t NEED (or care to pay for) a vacuum scheduling app in order to be happy - I need a true workhorse robot partner to help me feel like I’m not alone in my war against grime. The battery life EASILY was double that of my Roombas… in fact I’ve never had it run OUT of juice (or get stuck and die) and I end up just leading it back to it’s charging port because it has already cleaned ALL the downstairs (apx 2700’) including hardwood, tile AND carpeting… even though it would probably keep going. That being said, I DO pause it and clean the wheels, brushes, filter and dirt compartment about 4-5 times over the course of 90min. Remember: I have lots of pet hair to deal with, and boys running in and out, so I’m not about to let the Yeedi run the entire time without cleaning and restarting. It has a bigger compartment than the Roombas, but even my Dyson has to be emptied halfway during vacuuming IF I want it to do what it’s intended. Suffice it to say, if you own pets, don’t expect ANY robot vacuum to be a “set it and forget it” luxury. For me, the sheer amount of dust, dirt, crumbs, debris and hair (that I amazingly manage to miss!) this little gem collects is more than sufficient motivation for me to return the favor and back HER up with maintenance-as she unknowingly does ME.I’ve heard & observed the unit getting hung up a few times on “transitions” (like the lip between tile and hardwood) BUT I’ve never had to rescue it - the Yeedi amazingly figures it out. Same thing happens when it gets in a tight spot under a chair or table… it may take a minute but Yeedi always freed itself. Finally! No more hearing the frequent “Uh-Oh” tones PLUS the annoying: “ Error. Move Roomba to a new location then press CLEAN to start."Every part of the unit is easy to clean, and the filters are amazing at trapping the finest dust particles. The mapping program seems to be sufficiently effective enough to not miss any areas, although there is an extra function to “spot clean” and focus on unexpected messes.NON-crucial stuff: Yeedi is not all black plastic like most of the others. Not that being cosmetically accessorized with a cream color shell/rose gold trim is bad OR good. It seems easier to spot (when I go searching) but TBH I’d take this exact model in a Circa 1970’s ugly avocado green- knowing what TRULY matters for me is performance. Yeedi also has a female voice - as most of the robot vacuums do ?. SIDENOTE: I’d really be interested in knowing the exact science that goes into deciding that gender feature?. I guess someone decided that HAL 9000 would be too creepy.I’ve not used the mopping feature yet, but that would just be a BONUS if it is even half as impressive as the vacuum itself.I’ve never written a review this long - especially a positive one. Robot vacuums are products that (up until now) I have DESPISED having to spend SO much money on for mediocre ROI.I hope my love affair with Yeedi lasts a long time. ??I've had this little vacuum for about two weeks. Can't speak to the longevity yet, but between my initial product research and early experiences, I wanted to share my review.DON'T BUY THIS IF: you're expecting to replace your upright vacuum. If anything gets even a little ground into the carpet, this doesn't have the power to get it up. You'll still have to vacuum to get your carpets actually clean, especially in high traffic areas.DO BUY THIS IF: you need help keeping your floors managed. I have a black area rug and a shedding border collie. I run this vac daily and it does a good job grabbing the loose hair before it gets ground in. It's also great at getting places the upright can't reach like under the bed. For what it is, it picks up a surprising amount of hair/dust every time it runs. It's not perfect but my floor now looks like I have one dog instead of five.DON'T BUY THIS IF: you expect the app to work or there to be customer service to help you when it doesn't. You *have* to control the robot through the app. Connecting my phone to the robot went pretty smoothly, but it has to be over a 2.4GHz wifi connection. If for some odd reason your router only supports 5GHz, you're outta luck. Once you get it running it does allow you to click the auto clean button from the home page, but in order to get into any of the smart features, you need to click on the vacuum's picture. Unfortunately, mine needed a firmware update before I could access that menu, and it failed every time I tried for three days straight. I reached out to yeedi on their website - no response. There's no phone number either. I left the bot alone for two days, tried again, and the update luckily went through, but you're very much on your own with any troubleshooting.DO BUY THIS IF: you want an app with some bells and whistles for a decent price. Once you get it working (good luck), you can do stuff like schedule cleanings, tell it to only vacuum certain rooms or areas, and adjust the fan levels. It does make a little map that you can't edit, but can label. You'll want to turn on all the lights in the room while it's doing this, but mine is pretty accurate. While the vac is running, it'll show you its approximate location and the areas it's cleaned. It'll also send you push notifications when it finishes cleaning or on the rare occasion it gets stuck and needs you to come rescue it. The vacuum unit itself talks in the language you select and you can alter the volume. My dog is *not* a fan of this, but I appreciate the clear communication.DON'T BUY THIS IF: you want it to work on multiple levels of your house. It only saves one map. Why? Dunno, but you'd constantly be deleting and re-mapping if you wanted to run this bot both upstairs and downstairs. The mapping process involves a lot of gentle bumping as it feels its way around obstacles and it adds a good bit of time to the cleaning process. The vac is pretty efficient once it has its map built, but you're more likely to run into battery life problems if you're always deleting its bearings.DO BUY THIS IF: you have stairs. It does a great job detecting the drop and not yeeting itself down them.DON'T BUY THIS IF: you expect it to self empty. It is compatible with the yeedi emptying station, but that's an extra $200. You'll have to manually empty this one, which is super easy and not a big deal, but will need attention after each run cycle.DO BUY THIS IF: you want a vac with a decent carpet brush. There are two on the underside of this - the little edging broom that sticks out the front and a cylinder one in the middle. Both lock tightly in place but are very easy to get out and clean. They even give you a little tool for cutting any hair that gets tangled around the main brush.DON'T BUY THIS IF: you want to avoid maintenance costs. The brushes will need replaced, and if you do get the (sold-separately) emptying station, it takes specialty bags.DO BUY THIS IF: you have multiple floor types or area rugs in the cleaning zone. It automatically detects where the carpet switches to tile in my bathroom and adjusts its suction level to match. It also sometimes gets hung up on the edge of my big rug, but it will back up and take the approach at a diagonal before going over to where it originally wanted to be. I'm honestly surprised at how well it manages terrain changes and how little it gets itself stuck.DO BUY THIS IF: you plan on giving it a funny nickname in the app or putting googley eyes on it. Can confirm it's very adorable, although this unit navigates by gently running into things, so it's best to put any decorations on top instead of on the front to prevent them from getting damaged. If you're on the fence about getting this vacuum I assure you it is WELL worth it. I have 3 Huskies and 3 cats so this house knows it's fair share of pet hair. This thing has been doing awesome. We've only had 2 runs with it but honestly I'm in love. Finally a robot vac that knows where it's been and doesn't just hit into furniture aimlessly. We had Roomba before this and while our dear George Loopy is still running he is showing his age. We decided to get this one after reading an online review for top robot vacuums in 2022.Things I love so far about the yeedi is that it doesn't miss whole areas on your floor. When we had Roomba for the most part it got everything but it had to be emptied and cleaned 2-3 times per run. The yeedi didn't need me to empty it once. Of course I do empty it once it's done and clean all the brushes.I also love how quiet this one is. My family will stop and go "did the vacuum get stuck somewhere?" Because they can't hear it when walking into a room. That's the other thing it hasn't really got stuck like the old Roomba did. I noticed it adjusts it's wheels if it's trying to get under or over something.Definitely get this vacuum. After just 2 uses I'd buy it again. My dogs also appreciate that it doesn't totally ram into them.Vacuum stop working as it use to when I got it! It’s been less than 30 days and vacuum started to have problems. It won’t finish cleaning task, have to look for it in the house if it’s dead.. won’t return to charging station, stared to spin one spot. Why I can’t return it????? I want my money back!!Repeatedly trying to map our second floor with no success. The problem is with the "Resume Clean" function. The "Resume Clean" function is supposed to allow the robo vac to map the floor continuously after each re-charge until the whole floor is mapped out. But, for some reasons, it only resumes mapping/vacuuming once and then it just assumes that the mapping is complete and saved the map.The problem is once the map is saved. It can't be updated. To add additional area, the map has to be deleted and the mapping has to start from scratch.Randomly stopped working the first day I got it. The brush is not good and spreads the mess rather than sucking it up. Loses its way to charge station. I've factory reset this thing and still no change. Not worth itSuction is pretty good but yeedi is pushing all the light weight furniture. It might be dangerous to vacuum without your control. Yeedi is pushing my stand lamp and fall down. And also don’t recognize all the objects and keeping on pushing it.
